Meet Our Team
Andrew Locke
Co-Director of Bands
Hi!

I’m Andrew Locke, one of the band directors here at Greenfield Junior High!

My goal is to create a band program where students feel supported, challenged, and excited to make music every day. I believe band should be a place where students grow not only as musicians, but also as confident, responsible, and collaborative young people.

Before joining the Greenfield team full-time, I served as Assistant Band Director at both Greenfield Junior High and Gilbert High School, working with concert band, jazz band, and marching ensembles. I earned my Bachelor of Music in Music Learning and Teaching from Arizona State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. I believe strongly in bringing solid musical knowledge, clear expectations, and a calm, encouraging approach into my classroom.

Building positive relationships with students and families is extremely important to me. I strive to communicate clearly, teach musical concepts in age-appropriate ways, and maintain high expectations while creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing. My goal is for every student to feel valued and proud to be part of our band.

Outside of school, I am an active trumpet and cornet player with the Tempe Winds and the Salt River Brass Band, and I also regularly perform music for my church. I was recently married in May 2025 to my wife, Kaitlyn, and am excitedly preparing to welcome a baby into our family, along with our two dogs. In my free time, I enjoy country swing and country line dancing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to partner with families and help students discover the joy of music, teamwork, and dedication that come from being part of a strong band program!

Katie Moorhead
Co-Director of Bands
Hi!
I am Katie Moorhead, one of the band directors here at Greenfield Junior High!

I am in my 25th year teaching junior high band with Gilbert Public Schools. A proud product of GPS, I attended Mesquite Junior High School and graduated from Gilbert High School.
I attended ASU, earning my Bachelors of Music Education in 2001. In 2006, I earned my National Board Certification and in 2007 earned my Masters in Music Education from Boston University.
An active performer, I play piccolo with the Tempe Wind Ensemble.

I am a member of the Arizona Band and Orchestra Directors (ABODA), the Arizona Music Educators Association (AMEA) and the National Association for Music Education (NAfME).

I am passionate about teaching young people to embrace who they are and to shine, regardless of what’s going on around them. I believe junior high is the perfect age to shape and influence young people in a positive way…via music!

Lisa Nothnagel
Friend of the Program / Instructional Coach
Hi!
My name is Lisa Nothnagel and I am thrilled to be on the team here at Greenfield Junior High! I am so happy to be sharing my passion for music with these talented musicians!

I retired from teaching in May of 2022 after a 41 year career; 33 of those years were right here in Gilbert! I spent my time teaching band (and some general music) at all levels, however the majority of my career was at the elementary level.

I received both my Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Education from the Crane School of Music in Potsdam, NY. During my college years, I was fortunate to perform at the opening, medal, and closing ceremonies of the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY! Throughout the years, I've performed with numerous bands and orchestras on flute.
I'm an active member of AMEA (Arizona Music Educators Association), ABODA (Arizona Band and Orchestra Director's Association), and NAfME (National Association for Music Educators).

Currently, I am substituting for Band and Orchestra both in Gilbert and Mesa schools. And when I'm not subbing, you can find me here at Greenfield assisting these incredible directors wherever needed.

I thoroughly enjoy seeing students grow in both their musical and life endeavors. Greenfield Junior High's Band Program is a great place to be to achieve these goals!
